Product pages are the most critical pages for turning a website visit into a conversion. This is where users examine and evaluate the product before ultimately deciding whether to buy. That's why carefully structured, user friendly product pages are so important in e-commerce.
Using a CTA (Call to Action)
Every product page needs a clear CTA inviting the visitor to buy, usually expressed simply as "Add to Cart." This CTA should always be visible on the page and needs to work well on mobile devices too.
Product Photography
Even though users can't physically try out the product, high quality photography lets them experience it in another way. Products should be photographed from multiple angles and in high resolution, so users can examine the item closely and get all the information they need.
Product Description
The product description is usually what does the best job of introducing the item. This section should offer clear, thorough information that fully describes the product. Any safety details should be included, and common questions should be answered here too. This section can also be a great opportunity for SEO focused content.
Testimonials and Reviews
Testimonials and reviews from people who've already used the product add a sense of authenticity. This makes it easier for users to connect with the product emotionally and brings them closer to making a purchase.
Related and Recommended Products
One of the best ways to increase average order value is by adding related or recommended products to the product page. This gives users the chance to add more items to their cart, or discover a product they were searching for but couldn't find on their own.
Transparent Pricing
Even a user who intends to buy can be turned away by unexpected costs that appear at checkout. That's why any additional fees, such as shipping or plus size surcharges, should be clearly disclosed upfront rather than sprung on the customer as a surprise.
